Client profile :

Male at a top 50 private boarding school. 3.8 GPA, 1380 SAT, 8 AP courses completed. Academic performance was strong but not top-tier within a highly competitive environment. No national or state-level awards. Extracurricular involvement was conventional, primarily humanities-oriented activities without a defined academic specialization or spike.

Changes made through consulting :

Through structured advising, this student’s intellectual curiosity in the humanities was expanded towards applied scientific inquiry. Under the mentorship of a professor from MIT, the student began exploring public health and urban pollution issues in the city of Boston. Rather than conducting theoretical research alone, the student designed and developed a pollution-measuring device and collected air quality data across multiple neighborhoods.

The collected data was shared with local government, U.S. senator, and university research teams that were actively studying environmental health. Simultaneously, the student worked closely with high school college counselor to align the student’s evolving academic direction with the evaluation narrative. The professors who reviewed the student’s work submitted independent assessments of the student’s research quality.

Admissions officers described the student’s work as operating at a graduate level. In addition, the student received research invitations from university faculty before matriculation.

Outcome :

Accepted at Yale, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, Duke, and Cornell.
