Client profile :
Male at a private day school. 3.3 GPA. Mediocre compared to the overall class average. An international student with no specific talents.
Changes made through consulting :
The student was struggling with the attendance problem at school. Teachers and administrators gave him many warnings. We spoke with them, and recommended that the student and family strongly consider transferring into a new private boarding school where teachers we knew would give him very personalized attention and care.
While making the transfer, we guided the student to pick up a new interest in weightlifting and swimming. The two activities turned out to be a perfect match. Before starting the new journey at the new school, the student saw himself transform into a real athlete. The several months through summer paid off, and the student represented the new school’s varsity swimming team, placing himself among the top five in the nation for freestyle and breaststroke.
The student raised his GPA to 3.7, scored 1340 on the SAT, and achieved a score of 3 and 4 each for 2 AP exams.
Admissions officers cited the student as a fine example of significant growth all around, besides the furious recommendation of their swimming coach.
Outcome :
Recruited and accepted at University of Chicago.
