Client profile :
Male. Graduated from George Washington University. 3.6 GPA. Interned for a few management consulting firms including BCG for 2 years. Spent much time lifting weights, and loved nights out with friends. He needed to move out of his parents’ house, and looked for a destination.
Changes made through consulting :
His needs pointed him towards MBA, the only plausible option at that point. We examined much of his information, and identified sources of advantage that can stand him out. We also guided him on the GMAT prep and the MBA application writing and interview. Half a year later, he enrolled at Columbia Business School. From day one, we walked him through the process of networking “in the field.” Rather than wait until he gets called on, he went and knocked on the doors of potential employers we matched him with.
Initially, he was face to face with concierges. He then met with secretaries, assistants, then partners themselves. Some of them would call him on the phone, and ask what he wants exactly. He did not waste such opportunities to establish their relationship because everything was designed. He was good at listening and executing what he needed to do.
Expectedly, he began a new career with his employer as a part-timer. He did receive invitations from other firms, but he stuck with his employer as he increased exposure to larger opportunities within the firm and as he grew in experience and performance. Also, he really liked the people he worked with.
Outcome :
Joined Jefferies.
